Picture-in-Picture (PiP) Mode
TiviMate supports Android's native PiP mode — watch TV in a floating window while using other apps on your phone or tablet:
- Start playing any channel in TiviMate (full screen)
- Press your phone's Home button — TiviMate will automatically shrink to a small floating PiP window
- The PiP window appears in the corner of your screen. You can drag it to any corner
- On most phones, you can pinch to resize the PiP window (Android 12+)
- Tap the PiP window to bring TiviMate back to full screen, or tap the X to close the stream
Note: PiP requires Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later. Some Android manufacturers (Xiaomi MIUI, Samsung One UI) require you to manually grant PiP permission: Settings → Apps → TiviMate → Advanced → Picture-in-Picture → Allow.
Background Playback & Battery Optimization
TiviMate supports background audio playback on Android. However, some Android phone manufacturers aggressively kill background apps to save battery. If TiviMate stops playing when you switch to another app:
- Go to Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization (varies by device)
- Find TiviMate in the app list and set it to "Don't optimize" or "Unrestricted"
- On Samsung: Settings → Apps → TiviMate → Battery → Unrestricted
- On Xiaomi/MIUI: Settings → Apps → TiviMate → Battery Saver → No restrictions
- Also disable Autostart restrictions on MIUI and similar custom Android skins
